Dealing with Depression during COVID-19

I am not a fan of forcing ourselves to be grateful. When we shift our minds, we can usually find some authentic, natural, gratitude can flow, yes we have running water, yes we have food, we can still go to the grocery store. But, to insist that is is a GREAT amazing time, is not always true. Many people are dying, there is a division in our country, etc. I personally, as an acupuncturist am not allowed to work, for the greater good. Although, this does feel right to me, it is hard, and bring up a myriad of emotions. Having dealt with depression and anxiety my whole life, as long as I can remember, can be a challenge in these times. I am thankful for tools, how can we shift and make ourselves feel better. Today I shut down the news. I allow myself to go down the rabbit hole for a bit, and then I move on. I took a bath, made myself a good breakfast, and worked on an online seminar I am taking. I set a few, manageable goals for myself for the day. What are a few goals that you could set that would help you to feel good when you look back on today. Achieve goals gives us a spike in #dopamine, the "feel-good" hormone that gets released when we have achieved the possible, or achieved something we predicted. Since so much is unpredictable right now, doing even small tasks like this, can help us stay calm.

Whether you have income or not, there is an imminent threat to our lifestyles and health. This can be very triggering, not to mention we are at home alone or with Family. I have found that is has magnified issues that exist at home. It can be a challenge to say the least.

Meditation is a great gift for depression, in my experience, when I feel depressed, the energy is often not mine. Even a 20 minute meditation of clearing away energy, getting my energy flowing and tapping into my own voice and guide, changes my mood drastically and gives me a feeling of inner purpose.

When we believe things that are not true to us, that may be a source of Depression. I do not take depression lightly whatsoever.  If you do not know what it's like, it's easy to try to "fix" someone. In truth the light we want , and guidance is within.
I invite you to take a breath, maybe you can imagine all the energy that doesn't belong to you, drain out, if there was an answer for you today, what might it be? Maybe it is simply to hug a loved one, big or small, our path is there, and it belongs to us.
With love,
