Do you sometimes feel so overwhelmed? Do you feel frozen ?
Actually overwhelm can be your limbic system kicking in to protect you. There are two things I suggest to get you feeling better and back on your feet. First; pick a task that is do-able, fold your laundry and put it away. Tidy up the kitchen. For sensitive, empathic people visual clarity can sometimes help with the mental fog. I used to be extremely disorganized, I had no idea how much this was adding to my overwhelm. Today for example, I slowly sorted my clothing into piles and then put them away. Then I noticed some old clutter, so I put some photographs away and recycled some old cards. I set an intention of letting the past go and making room for the now & future. Because I gave myself something I could accomplish, I was able to get that rush of Dopamine, the neurotransmitter that spikes for a reward response, when something goes "right" or how you expect. It is a common one in addicts, or even sufferers of domestic abuse. If you can create some positive experiences with it that are productive, you can literally work towards rewiring your brain and nervous system. LIttle by little, step by step. Next, I love my dear old friend, Tapping, see the link below for a little video on tapping for Overwhelm. Both these, can help you calm your nervous system AND give you the boost you need to go on with your day, WITHOUT the overwhelm. A good cup of coffee, tea or some dark chocolate is always good too! With love, Stefanie
